What is the suggested attire for the restaurant?

Our dress code at our The Old Salt Bush Restaurant & Catering is smart-casual, No Caps.

What is the ambience of the restaurant?

The flagship of the the old Salt Bush restaurant is housed in an elegant, heritage building with original sandstone features and with an Art Deco stylish ambience. Accents of  Art Deco design are presented in a beautiful setting this 1888 year old building’s dining room is painted a saltbush green; it is warm & calm, with its inviting charm, just a restaurant like visiting an old friend.

Who is the Culinary Director / Head Chef?

Lee Cecchin is the Chef Owner /Culinary Director of this premium restaurant who leads the kitchen.  Far West town Broken Hill, the Old Salt Bush Restaurant & Catering. She oversees the kitchens and culinary teams, new menu development, supplier relationships, back-of-house recruitment, and mentors up-and-coming team members.

Do you have Vegan/ Vegetarian/ GF / coeliac options?

We can cater for most dietaries. Please make a note of your special dietary requirements when you make your online booking, and let your server know once you have been seated.

Can we bring a birthday/anniversary cake? Do you charge cakeage?

We have delicious bush-flavoured desserts at The Old Salt Bush  (have you heard a Chef can make a cake). If you prefer to bring your own cake for a celebration, we charge a $9 cakeage fee.

Are you BYO?

The Old Salt Bush Restaurant is a fully licensed restaurant with a fantastic range of well-priced Australian wines, local and craft beers, and Salt Bush Gin, other spirits and innovative house-made cocktails. We do not offer a BYO service.

How do your set menu options work?

The minimum number of guests required to dine on a set menu is two, and the whole table must dine on a set menu. If your booking is for eight or more guests, you are automatically required to dine on one of our set menus, 2 course or 3-course menu with a side and bread.

Special dietary requirements cannot be accommodated when dining on a set menu.

Do you have disability access?

Yes, we do.

Do you have highchairs?

Highchairs are available at The Old Salt Bush Restaurant. Please note this regarding your online booking.

Do you have a children’s menu?

The Old Salt Bush does not have a children’s menu, but we can reduce portion size or if you call ahead we can discuss options.

What payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (including diners) and Eftpos. Credit cards incur a processing fee of 1.6%. ‘Tap and Go’ incurs debit/credit card fee.  External payment Apps incur additional fees.  A 10% surcharge applies on Sundays 15% on public holidays.  

Do you sell gift cards?

Gift cards can be purchased in person at the venue during opening hours,  call 0418841101 to order over the phone.

Can I use my gift card to make a booking?

We require a credit card guarantee to secure a booking. However, we can reimburse the credit card security payment for gift card payment at the time of dining/paying.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a credit card to guarantee a reservation, and we will charge $50 per person, no show fee for cancellations made within 24 hours of your booking time. This includes amendments to the number of guests attending.

I am trying to call the restaurant and can’t get through, what do I do?

The restaurant team may not be able to attend to your call immediately if they are busy with service. Please leave a message, alternatively send an email to bookings@theoldsaltbush.com.au

Do you accept walk-ins?

We do accept walk-ins; however, a booking is highly recommended, especially on weekends.

I want to organise a special event. How do I start?

Please contact our events team and provide as much information as possible about your event.

Do you require a credit card to confirm a reservation?

Yes, we require a credit card guarantee to confirm a reservation, and we will charge a $50 per person no show fee for cancellations made within 24 hours of your booking time. This includes amendments to the number of guests attending. Minimum notice needs to be given to avoid any charges.

I am going to be late for my booking, what do I do?

There is a 15-minute grace time on all bookings. If you are running later than this, please try to contact the restaurant team on 61+418841101, however, they may be unable to attend to your call immediately if they are busy in service.  

I want to change or cancel my booking.

 You may cancel or change your booking by contacting the reservations team at booking@theoldsaltbush.com.au. Our reservations office hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 3 pm. Outside of these hours, please call the restaurant directly on 0418841101. A $50 per person fee is charged for cancellations made within 24 hours of your booking time. 

Are your meats halal?

We have halal-certified meat on the menu. However, there is no separate halal preparation space in our kitchens.

Do you have takeaway options?

No, we don’t currently offer takeaway options.
